Foolish Tales for Foolish Times Grades 1 to 3, max 150; Grades 1 to 6 mixed, max 250; available February and March 2011 Four foolish tales, full of venerable folk wisdom from around the world, are retold in a celebration of our shared humanity. Presented in a deceptively simple, low tech style that belies the extraordinary artistry of the Puppetmongers, each story is told with a different style of puppetry, from human-sized to hand puppet, table-top to kitchen ware. This is a richly imaginative production that kindles creativity, inspires role play and encourages thinking outside the box. Brick Brothers Circus K to Grade 8; max 250; Guaranteed to stimulate imaginations and spark creative thinking, the Brick Bros. Circus is a complete tongue-in-cheek, miniature one-ring circus, performed by highly trained building bricks in itty bitty sequined costumes. See the acrobatic Bildovitch Family, the breathtaking Madame Brikaskova, the amazing Brick Contortionist and much much more! Puppetmongers take the definition of puppetry to its logical extreme, with the most inanimate of objects performing in the most active form of theatre. Cinderella in Muddy York Grades 1 to 8 (mixed is ideal); max 250; available April and May 2011 History and fun are integrated in this imaginative retelling of the classic fairy tale. Puppetmongers reset the story in 1830’s Upper Canada, just as “Muddy” York is to be renamed Toronto, and the play is ingeniously staged with a traditional marionette theatre that transforms, as the story unfolds, to create scenes evoking the wilderness, pioneer life and early Canadian society. No Strings Attached Grades 1 to 3, 4 to 6 & 7 to 8; max 100; available all year This exciting behind-the-scenes introduction to puppetry traditions around the world appeals to the imagination and sense of wonder, and creativity is inspired by the demonstration of simple puppet making techniques. A word about Puppetmongers' touring shows. . . Puppetmongers have been touring their theatrical puppet works to family and school audiences across Canada, the USA, Europe and Asia since 1974. We have played to thousands of delighted people in theatres, at festivals, in libraries and schools. Every year we remount a number of our classic shows for touring.
